Sea of Death by Mark Nolan

Sea of Death (Jake Wolfe Thrillers Book 8)Sea of Death by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In The Sea of Death, Cody and Jake are spending some time with Sarah drifting along in his beautiful yacht, Far Niente. The ocean is a wonderful place until…well, there’s always an “until” with Jake and Cody. They are important to the country. While both Jake and his war dog, Cody, have had problems with PTSD, the US authorities have plenty of confidence in these heroes and have armed Jake with a US Marshals badge. Not only a badge but also plenty of leeway to put the bad guys away one way or another. But as happens many times, nobody wants revenge more than the bad guys.

I’ve read all of the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. To me, every book in the series is a 5* read. This series is a special kind. Attention-holding, exciting, even emotional at times. But possibly more important than any other aspect, Mark Nolan crafts wonderful characters. I’ve said before that I’d sure hate to have to choose between Jake or Cody. I just love them both.

But this book, it’s a bit different. Nolan is excellent at creating and writing action scenes. Nothing has changed about that. They are as vivid as ever. It’s his descriptive writing of the surroundings, the beaches, sunrises, and the yacht that seems more expanded. I wanted to sit and sip on a margarita and let the world go by. Good grief. I wanted to be there, at least when there wasn’t any trouble.

The quickest way I know to describe this book is that the whole series should be a tv series. It’s that exciting. I can’t help but beg here hoping Mr. Nolan will see how much I’m hoping for more of Cody and Jake, and Book 9.
