what's it about...
Patroosh is a cheeky
pelican who always wants more. He'll even take the food right out of your hand,
or flap his big wings until you drop it in the sand. But after an unexpected
event, and a random act of kindness, this pelican's life is about to change
forever.

Oh my, how absolutely delightful. This is what I’ve been
talking about in my reviews of children’s books of late. A fun book, bright
beautiful illustrations, and...a subliminal message of values or even just
being nice to one another. The story is about our avian or web-footed friends.
It’s about people too and finally, about responsibility.
The prose rhyming gives this
an easy flow to read and it’s just as easy to hear. Don’t be afraid of
the 40+ pages for your toddler. This is a book with big illustrations and a few
words on each page. Its layout seems to make the rhyming even more fun.
After a small amount of research, it looks to me as if Renee
James has plenty of communications and production experience. If she has
written another children’s book, I could not find mention of it. Parents better
hope there are more to come!

He floated around with his belly up, sunbathing, gloating, and singing, “YUP YUP YUP YUUUUUP.”
